I haven't tried this yet but I plan on getting some of these magnets and giving it a try. The magnets are cheap too I googled them for a price

Traffic lights work by an "inductive-loop traffic detector" that works somewhat like a metal detector, sensing any ferrous metal (steel, iron, etc.). The metal mass of the bike triggers the light.

Sometimes these sensors are improperly designed or adjusted, so they don't pick up on the presence of a smaller vehicle. These sensors do not detect the weight of a vehicle, but rather sense how much it disturbs an electromagnetic field.

Magnets are questionable at effecting traffic lights at all and would have to be really strong to do so.

The neodymium magnet costs $3.50, so I'm going to roll the dice.

I have a light close to me that is hard to trip. I installed a magnet on the bike. The light trips just fine now. It worked for me..

Faast Ed is an unknown quantity at this point
The magnets in that film looked awfully small. I would think a much stronger magnet would be needed.

Just received my magnets

I just received my 4 bar neodymium magnets today and I can't believe how strong a pull they have 6 lbs at least.

I can see how they would really trip a light.

each bar is:
2 inches long by 1/2 wide x 3/8 high unreal pull

I bought 4 cause of the shipping cost but you only need 1

Riding tip for those of you that don't use the magnets. When pulling up to a trip signal align the bike over one side of the hex in the road. That will give you the max signal to the senser. I've worked for INDOT for years and this is a little trick that was picked up through working with and repairing these things.

There is a way to trigger the green light to stay on. i understand that a laser remote from a tv can be used, if pointed properly with "911' programmed in. now i haven't tryed it, It is probably illegal, but i am sure there is something in use for emergency drivers and even bus drivers to get through long lights.

I've tried the magnets & I've tried rocking the bike across the sensors. The only thing that works is running the red light on my street - literally. If I was to wait for the light to change at 5:30 am on my way to work, I would have to wait for a car to pull up behind me and trigger the sensor. And that's on a Road King. Magnets don't work - period. And I think that for those that say they do work, it's just probably something else triggering the sensor.

This approach usually works for me...
