Those who wear prescription glasses....
So, I finally took my bike out for a ride yesterday. Got on the highway and was cruising at a good steady spead of 55. I noticed that my prescription glasses did not offer to much wind protection and my eyes started to run.
My question is what are my options? I need my glasses so that I can see clearly and I'm not about to change to a full face, I like my skull style helmet (DOT approved of course) Anything you seasoned riders can suggest to a newbie like me?
Thanks,

You need glasses with a good 'wrap' close to your face. Wiley X does scrip.

Well, I'm worried about fitment. I dont want to look stupid with them sticking out to far and what not. Where could I look online or do I go to my local eye glass store? What about sun glare?

For normal use I wear a set of progressives with a 2.25 reading and a slight Rx for distance. My reading vision is terrible but I don't need my distance Rx to ride. In the past I would just forgo the Rx glasses and wear sunglasses or clears to ride. But I couldn't read my gauges, my radio, my Sirius, or my GPS. Just recently I found the solution and it was cheap! Since then quite a few of my buddies have ordered the same thing, Safety glasses with a bifocal reading diopter. I have ordered both clears and tinted and never ride without them. Now I can see my dash and gauges as clear as can be. Another big benefit is that I can read the menus when we stop to eat!
Available in a variety of diopter strengths and tints for under $15.00!

I do not wear prescription glasses but I have a lot of friends that do. My job requires safety glasses at all times for all employees. The people that do wear prescription glasses but cant really afford prescription safety glasses use snap on side guards. They do wrap around and they are vented for air flow but I'm not sure how well they would work for riding. They can be picked up very cheap at most Lowes or Home Depots. I ride with safety glasses all the time and buy mine at the local Fire Protection Store. It might be worth a try before spending hundreds of $$$ on a custom set.....

I got contacts and can now use regular riding glasses. It is also better for the whole peripheral thing.

I've been riding without a windshield for over 30 years, and I've found that the best (for me, anyway) solution is to get frames that use the solid piece, or molded, nose piece. The frames with the more common little pads on the nose piece let the air come in around your nose and swirl around your eyes. The solid piece keeps most of it out.
I have to admit, finding frames with the solid nose pieces can be hard sometimes, and the frames aren't as stylish as some others, but they work.

I see there is no real cheap way around this. In order to get my Rx added to the glasses it is going to cost me well over $100 which is more then I really want to spend. I dont need my glasses all the time. Infact I only use them for when I'm driving. I can see everything fine its just I have a hard time seeing the signs from a certain distance and feel more comfy with them on. That is why contacts are not practical. I see they have glasses you can put over your regular Rx glasses but I feel I would look goofy as my head is not that big. Sheesh... what a pain. I hate when its the small things that cause a problem.
