Plastic on exhaust?

While backing my bike into the garage lastnight I backed into a plastic tarp and it melted a little bit on the underside on my mufflers . Does anyone know of a product that will remove the melted plastic from the muffler or is it there for life?

Look at the multitude of previous posts regarding things (plastic, rubber, etc) melting on pipes. Most are in this section of the forum.

plastic and pipes

Here's what I did.. tried many things to get to this point. Use an oven cleaner.. the kind one can use on cold ovens. Spray it on.. leave it overnight.. it wont allow you to wipe off the plastic, but take a new razor blade and lighty scrape the site. I found going horizontal to the pipe, not the length of it.. went better. Apply a little chrome polish or your product of choice.. and its done !

Hell, I just use Goof Off paint remover.
Works like a charm.

On the occasions I've had to remove tough stuff from pipes I've found
that acetone (nail polish remover) works quite well.

Best thing I have used is #0000 steel wool...it is fine enough that it actually shines the chrome without scratching it but will remove boot marks etc. I just use it dry as it seems to work best that way...just make sure it is..............4 ought #0000.

I was just down at the local shopping center a few days ago and met a couple on their brand new street glide so I got to talking about exhaust and he walked me around to the right side of his bike and showed me where he was riding along and a plastic shooping bag from Target had blown across the road and hit his brand new V & H duals.... UGHH what a frickin mess that was.
