I would say this thread belongs in the exhaust section, but if your patient, they'll burn off. I guess you could heat it up and wipe them off, but never tried that. You could always go buy one of those useless exhaust cleaners that claim to wonders, then be disappointed at the outcome...

A good quality oven cleaner (Easy Off) works like a champ. The cheaper oven cleaner didn't work at all. Careful where and how you spray!!! Good luck!!

I've heard the Oven Cleaner works great...NO MATTER WHAT - be very careful about getting anything to remove it on the paint, and even on the chrome. Be sure and double wash off all the residue from that entire area when done.
This is being overly-safe, but better to be safe than sorry...

never had any luck with oven cleaner myself!
but my wife likes to really lay the boot heals on the reinherts
I USE A razor blade start with a dull one untill you get the hang of it(NOT SCRATCHING THE PIPE) You will get the hang of what pressure angle etc to use then just use crome cleaner when done,

Paint thinner. Just be careful to not to get it elsewhere, and wash it off immediately.

I've used tide water and a brush. Make sure it's the granular (sp?) tide. I have to thank my 15 y/o daughter and her new sneakers for this experiment.

I have used Colonel Brassy's Metal Polish. It melts the burn marks away and polishes at the same time. Just don't get it on your paint.

I use a product called Colonial Brassy metal polish. It has a mild abrasive like soft scrub but it wont scratch the chrome. It took my wifes melted boot heel off like a champ.
