Cleaning / Degreasing

I always use auto car washing soap for the tins, and simple green for the grime. However on the chain (remember when bikes had chains?) I use a small spray bottle of kerosene and a paint brush to clean it then WD 40 to get rid of the kerosene, then re-oil it.
Anyway I've been using Kerosene more and more lately. It removes bugs and road grime off the bottom of the frame better than anything I've used so far. Anyone else try or do this?
Will it cause any harm to the paint or chrome after a while?
Just wonderin'

I certainly wouldn't leave any kerosene on paint for any length of time. If you get some one it, then wipe off immediately I think you would be ok...but if you missed a spot and allowed it to sit, say overnight, I wouldn't want to see the results...

(not saying I know for sure it would cause harm...just wouldn't want to try )
