Chrome VS Satin Chrome

Hi all, I bought a 09' Muscle which has those satin chrome pipes. Right after I bought it I must have driven through some kind of tar somewhere because I got these very small black dots near the back ends of the exhaust that are very difficult to remove (fingernails don't even get it off) My question is can I use the same techniques from chrome as I've read here for removing such things also from my satin chrome?

Thanks.

Try "Goof" - it is sold at most hardware stores. It should take it right off. My boots melted into my exhuast once (the pipes were standard chrome and it came right off) Try a small spot under the exhaust to make sure there are no problems first.

Just a follow up on this, I bought some of that 0000 steel wool from Wally World and it worked like a CHARM for removing those little black baked on spots, recommend it to anyone with these pipes.

Thanks for the tip. I had the same black dots on the satin chrome exhaust of my Muscle too. Hope I'm not intruding on the thread, but I wanted to ask if any of you guys know of any way to deal with scratches on satin chrome. Realized my right exhaust pipe had been scratched (I suspect by a plastic part on my motorcycle cover) after my nightly ride today. Any advice?

there is an area with very minor scratches but then, there's about a 3-inch long single scratch about a millimeter wide. it's deep enough to have made the satin finish shiney along the length of the scratch. silly me...i should have taped over the plastic parts of the cover to have prevented them from doing any damage.

i called the dealership earlier today and it looks like a replacement for the heatshield/exhaust cover is ~$100 bucks. not too bad but was just wondering if anyone had experience with the satin-y stuff. thanks!
