chrome on super glide engine

I have a 05 super glide. while I like most items on bike I hate the engine. It's a dull chrome. Does anyone know a way to brighten it up. I tried a chrome polish but it's still dull. All other Harley's have a bright chrome finish why they did a dull finish on this engine is a mystery to me. Any ideas?

That's because it's not chrome. It's "finished aluminum." Superglides (While a fine bike) were not deemed worthy of chrome engine covers. You had to pop for a Low Rider or Wide Glide to get the chrome.

I bought the Factory chrome engine kit for mine. Back in 1998 it was still less expensive to buy the stock FXD and then buy the chrome kit and install it.

Look in the P&A book page 562. It has all the covers for each bike listed seperately. There's no "kit" to buy, only each piece.

If you look in the 2009 P&A Catalog on page 155 top right Part #16327-06A or #16327-01A. It is a Chrome Engine Kit for Twin Cam Equipped DYNA Models 749.95
