opinion please

ive just had my handlebars and riser replaced at a local bike shop last weekend, due to a ditsy girl that didnt see me. grrrr... tonite, when i went for dinner and a ride afterwards. i noticed my riding lights and headlight were out. found the fuse blown, which indicates a short, right? now the bike shop wants me to take it back to him to see if he can find a short. does anyone think he caused this, as i never had a problem before. altho i will see if it happens again before i do something, since its under warranty, think ill take it to the stealership. thanks for your thoughts on this.

So you expect a dealership to warranty a botched handlebar/riser installation done at a local afterbirth shop?

You might check the wires then put in a new fuse and see if it does it again. Or, you might go back to the shop that did the work and have them check the wires.

Otherwise... what Zeus said.

I'd bring it back to the shop that did it. After first changing the fuse and making sure they did'nt blow it during the install. As for the dealer, The warranty doesnt have anything to do with the fuse if the problem wasnt with stock equipment and caused by... well you know.

I would suspect that they had power to the headlight switch when they were either removing it from the old bars or when they re-installed it on the new bars. Could have shorted and taken the fuse out at that time. Believe me, if you had a constant short, the fuse would blow immediately. Don't overlook the case of an intermittent short, then it would work ok, then some time later, BLOW!....but I doubt it.
Best of luck
