Blown Cylinder Gaskets on CVO 110 engines

Anyone hear anything about the CVO 110 cu/in engines blowing cylinder gaskets or needing an oil cooler because of excess heat?

Check the January edition of American Iron magazine. Donny Peterson has a good article about the 110s blown head gaskets.
Keep er up

Yes it is a problem.I work at a HD dealer and there is a service bulliten out for them.Call your local dealership have them run your vin(or I can) and find out if you have a open bulliten/recall on it.Some evwn require new heads and ACR's depending on the year and buld date.

The Oil Cooler I have not heard that yet.

Appears the inherent (but curable) heat of the newer Harley's gives the 110 engine more moves than a belly dancer. Taint the gaskets' fault. The HD recall to install more forgiving head gaskets was/is a band aid to the real problem IMO

This problem was out there long before Donny Peterson came along. I call it a manufacturing defect. S&S jugs dont do it.

110 Cylinders need redesign...

says the latest AIM. The article gives more information on the problem. Pretty much says the cylinders are junk. I wonder what HD is going to do the with this latest news from the most read HD mag out there?
How do you sell a 30,000+ bike that needs a redesigned engine?

Is this affecting 2009 CVO 110 bikes also? I recently bought a 2009 FLTRSE3 Road Glide screamin Eagle. Only have 300 miles on it. I wasn't clear in the mag article if this was affecting 08 and before or to include the 09's.

Also, anybody know where I can get forward control extensions for this bike. Can't find anything.

As I understand it.they started putting the square o- rings in them in late 08. so the 09's should be ok as far as that goes.
The heat issue caused by lean AFR will need to be addressed. this can be solved with a good tuning device such as TTS Mastertune. They also need the fuel and timing tuned to eliminate the detonation (pinging). This also can be accomplished with the TTS Mastertune.IMO the heat isn't as bad on the SE bikes as the stock 96 ci because the cams in the SE's have some overlap. Although they do detonate on lower rpm roll on. At least the ones I have ridden did!
Cant help ya on the control extentions.
Good luck

I'll say this, that we have performed testing, and at 350*, the valve seats will start to release from the head. Fact.
