Have a brown and white photo of him, taken while filming "The Sons of Katie Elder".
It hangs on the wall in the den.
FWIW, my uncle, and his hunting party, while hunting mule deer, literally stumbled on to the whole filiming of "True Grit" when the studio was on location in the Rocky Mountains. "No brag, just fact."
One hellava an actor.

John wayne was an avid yachtsman. Among other good deeds he donated some very valuable land to facilitate building a marina in Sequim Bay, Washington.
His pirate parties aboard his yachts were notorious. Think of endless booze and topless starlets. Mmmmmm.
