Bikers Down - Wade and Denise Thomas
A beautiful day in Illinois turned tragic for husband and wife Wade and Denise Thomas of St. Charles, Illinois.
They were riding with friends to Wisconsin, when a 24 year old woman began a chain reaction accident near Sugar Grove, Illinois. Another vehicle hit Wade and Denise head on, according to the police.
I was also out riding today, and the lack of attention being used is criminal.
Sincere sympathies are sent to the loved ones of Wade and Denise on this tragedy.
Steve

My sympathy for the family
My sympathy is for the family of this couple. It is very shameful that people drive so carelessly and cost innocent lives.

I can't believe the article says none of the riders were wearing seatbelts. Must have been in a hurry to get that one to the press.
Prayers to all involved.

Another tragedy by someone that just didn't care to be cautious. Whats with the riders not wearing seat belt remark, a bit of stupidity with that remark or what?

Thats a sad story. How much you wanna bet the kid that caused the accident was busy texting and not paying attention.

I agree somewhat with one of the witnesses in the end of that article. Riding in "packs" can be very dangerous and take out a lot of riders in one swoop. Unless ALOT of room is given between the group, and I mean ALOT, that allows some kind of evasive action to be taken. Before you beat me up, I know not always can things be avoided but when tight together you have almost no chance, and may even take down your buddy in front or behind you. This is a terrible accident, that picture gives me the chills. I have had several close calls, even recently, and I ride totally defensively as much as possible, watching out for the idiots out there. I have almost gotten to the point where I wont wonder away from the house at all during any holidays due to morons on the road. Just last week an idiot pulled into the four lane major road from the right, crossed over three lanes and caused the two cars in front of me to lock up to avoid him, I found myself with the azz end sliding trying not to lock it up too much, and barely missed one car and slid to a stop. My heart almost came right outta my chest on that one. If I could have got ahold of that son of a bi*ch I would have pounded the shite out of him.

tragic for sure. but there was no mention of the cars waiting at a red light. i too often see a long line of motorcycles ignoring a light after the first bikes go through the intersection, all bikes continue through, even after the light turns red. i guess sticking together is more important than stopping. i see this at 4 way stops also. so what if the toyota driver saw a green light, looked away, looked back to discover the cars in front werent moving, so he nailed the honda?
not trying to defend the toyota driver, but i see this scenario all too often, and is another reason if i am in a group (rarely) that i ride way to the rear. my safty comes first. and i always give myself a big cushion for escape.
prayers to all involved.

In a group or on your own, YOUR safety is YOUR responsibility.
