Lost a fellow rider this weekend
Carolina H-D had a grand opening celebration of the opening of their new 70k sq. ft. store. They had demo rides on the V-Rod and my buddy took it out for a ride came back and the very next guy that took it out got only two miles up the road and a cage turned left in front if him. They collided head on. The accident happened Saturday (12th) around noon and he passed away Sunday (13th).
Didn't know him or his name but I still felt obligated to mention it here.
R.I.P. Fellow Rider, I'm sure you had a smile on your face and went out doing what you wanted to do. Many others have died that were not as fortunate.
Dennis

Sad and sobering news.
May it by a while before we see another of these posts.

Sad news indeed. I hope we don't hear any news like this again.
BTW... what do you mean by a cage?
Ride safe guys.

Sad news indeed. Never good to hear another who loved 2 wheels go down.
CAGE=auto (car, suv, truck) where passenger is enclosed....like a cage.

Always hate to hear that kind of news. Why is it tht cagers can't seem to watch where they are going?

Busy on the cell phone, applying lipstick or makeup, lighting a cigarette, jabbering with passengers, dog sitting on the drivers lap, etc., etc. etc.
Burns my FAU.
I remember at one time you would see bumper stickers that stated
"KILL A BIKER, GO TO JAIL"
man I wish I could find a couple of those now.

The paper stated that she was turning left. A van was waiting to turn left from the same direction as the bikes and her view was blocked. She attempted to turn and the bikes ran into her. I guess she (21 yr. old) stabbed it without taking a double look. No charges have been filed.
The rider was Tim Fruda (45) from Greenville,SC

2kflhr,
I was shocked to hear this and glad you posted this. I live here in Gastonia and just heard this news last night at Logan's Steakhouse where they have a Harley night every Thursday. I pass this intersection quite frequently being that it is the main road in town and where H-D and Hooter's are on.
It is very hard to see the oncoming traffic if there is someone turning from the other direction. I know I will really try to be a lot more alert at major intersections for just this scenario.
Thanks for the post and reminder for us all to be alert at all times. I would also like to express my sympathy for the fellow rider and his family/friends.
Let's all be safe and watch that other driver...
