Too young to go.....
I write this through blurry eyes in the hopes others can pass this on.
I got called late last night by the other coach of our cross country team. One of our former runners had been airflighted to Atlanta Memorial the result of a single vehicle accident. A roomful of parents and kids waited and prayed yet to be told at 3:30am that he had passed. He was all of 17 years old.
You read about this kind of thing in the paper and you become used to the reports. The kid was a god kid, talented, easy to coach, a pure cut up, well liked by the kids. He simply allowed testrone to grip his brain and ended up losing his life over speeding.
I can't get over the sound of his brother screaming no and erruption of emotion in the waiting room. They are sounds I have no wish for anyone else to experience. So if you know of a teenager simply email this to them or let them read this and try the best you can to make his death matter to potentially save anothers life. I am asking for them to think before leaping and perhaps we can stop others from hearing what I heard this morning.
We NEVER should bury our children they should be burying us.
So may God bless you Colin you will be greatly missed.
Coach H.
