Ladies opinions on all inclusive Mexican resorts
I am planning on suprising my wife with a vacation to Mexico sometime this year. I would be interested in hearing any positve experiences regarding good all inclusive resorts(adult only) in Mexico anyone has been to. We are in our late 40's and need some time away and would prefer to not be around kids (ours are finally out of the house!!!) Any input would be appreciated.

Not a lady (hope that is obvious), but my wife and I just finished researching all inclusive Mexican Resorts.
I had a friend stay at this place last year and said it was absolutely gorgeous.
Aventura Spa Palace
http://www.palaceresorts.com/Resorts...lace/Index.asp
We have a timeshare through Pueblo Bonito resorts (RCI) and checked out this palce. We have a $149 coupon to use at any RCI gold crown resort but you have to pay extra for all inclusive resorts. It was going to cost us $1666 (for both, not each) with the $149 coupon.
We have another $149 coupon for next year and we may check Aventura Spa Palace next year.
This year we're using the coupon here. Of course its not all inclusive but prices in Mexico are great. Not bad for 6 nights for $149.

Went here last year and it was just plain awesome.

Well, my wife's not a member here, so you'll have to trust me when I say she loved our trip last year to:
http://www.palace-resorts-cancun.com...pa_palace.html
A total of six hotels under common ownership. Located in the Riviera Maya region (about 1 hour south of Cancun).
The Aventura is 18 years old minimum. You can also take a shuttle to the other Palace hotels if want to dine in their restaurant or use their other facilities - also included in the "all inclusive" price.
Although tips are covered - as with any hotel, generous tips get you excellent service.
Very nice health club and spa facility. Pool bar is excellent.
Food was very good, overall a great time.
Edited - I posted at the same time as thatoldbike - nice to hear someone else with the same opinion. Here's where we spent most of our time during the day:

Not a chick either but I'll throw in another cudos for Aventura Spa Palace. I'm hosting our annual sales incentive awards there in March. Have made one site visit and have been impressed. The exec spouses have been to a lot of nice places and are accustomed to luxury and I believe this spa-themed resort will impress them.
I have also stayed at Occidental Royal Hideaway, just down the street in Playacar. This is also a top shelf place but smaller and more intimate. Royal Hideaway has about 200 rooms whereas Aventura has just over 600.
Both of these places are on the "Leading Hotels" list and Aventura is also on the "Leading Spas" list.
My third choice would be Paradisio (sp?). Have not stayed but made a site visit there.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the good input. Hopefully I can find a good travel agent to help us figure out a good time of year to go etc.., I was mostly hoping to get some womens perspectives on likes and dislikes of the places they have been. Most of my buddies that have been to Mexico loved it as long as they had plenty to eat and drink.

The friend that told me about Aventura Spa Palace was a woman. She said it was one of the best vacations she's ever been on. She lives outside of L.A. and has been to several nice places. Ranked it much nicer than her two Hawaii trips. Said their Spa was incredible.

I have a friend who goes to Costa Rica every year for about 8 weeks. He and his wife have been all over the world and he says that Costa Rica is the best. more bang for your buck, but stay with a group when touring the towns.

Cancun !!!!
The wife & I went to Cancun 2 years ago, before the last Hurricane. My cousin & his wife went along. They went back in 06, after the Hurricane & said Cancun was "tore up." That said, we all loved Cancun in late January. 80-85 all week. Was 25 when we left Idaho. Another couple we know says the Beach Palace is the most bang for the buck. As part of the Palace Resorts, you get to use stuff at all 6 of the Hotels. I believe they caught a package of around 2K for airfare, and the all inclusive deal. DK.

Spain is nice, too. Most are clothing optional and a dollar goes a long way.
