Hey, Ladies. I would like to get your opinions on the best sort of seat for long trips. I have a stock, vinyl seat and I've heard that leather is much better to, um, keep things cooler.
Not a lady, but sheepshin covers keep "it" cooler.
Also, thought H-D used leather on all the stock seats?
Anyway, there are actually some tasteful looking sheepskin covers out there. Easy on, easy off. www.alaskaleather.com is where mine came from, thanks to members here recommending them.
I heard that the sides are leather but the top part is vinyl.
It's usually the opposite (leather top, vinyl sides) on leather seats (Corbin, etc.), but Harley doesn't use leather seats on standard production models. However, they do use them on most CVO (Custom Vehicle Operations) models, a few special editions, and have them available from their parts and accessories catalog. A good thing about vinyl is that it's easy to clean, repels water, and is cheaper than leather or exotics.
When I had my sporters I swapped the stock seats for the pillow top. What a huge difference in comfort. Now I think they make a sundowner for the sporters.
