Year started off great... had a coaching gig lined up with Sportbike Track Time... got in a couple track days and had two good race weekends at Blackhawk Farms... it was going to be a kick-ass summer. Then disaster struck - two of my cats became ill and the ensuing vet bills wiped out my race/travel budget. I then turned to the drag strip to satisfy my adrenaline addiction... piloting the V-Rod in the "Harley Shootout" $$ class up at Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove, WI. "Beginner's luck" got me into the semi-finals my first night out (and netted a $160 payout!)! Was a lot of fun, but I missed most of the dates because of my goofy work schedule. Was able to get away for some nice weekend rides on the Large Blue Barge... made it to the first V-Rod Forums rally in Kansas City and had a blast. Even got some publicity in "Thunder Roads" magazine!
The "silver lining" to the disappointments of this season is that I've gotten "that much" of a head start in getting things in place for 2005. My plan is to do some dirt/ice riding over the winter, then take on the chase for a regional class championship with CCS, the "Harleys at da Grove" money-class championship, and raise lots and lots of $$$ for breast cancer research while doing so!
