Project done.. Hubby out of town
I know some of you gals can relate to this... Hubby left for business out of town yesterday morning, and I just got my replacement windshield for my Heritage. So last night, I decided to tackle the job myself. I took all the hardware off my old shield (I had had it cut too short, originally), and put together the new plexiglass with the hardware... pretty simple, just got a couple of different length screws to decide where they go. Then, decided to do the hard part... cutting the windshield to the height I need. I followed directions from some posts here on the Forum... made a template, taped up the area I was gonna cut. I actually found my hubby's jigsaw in the basement! Plugged it in and cut away. Came out pretty good. Needs a little more sanding, but I felt soooo good when I was done. I started and completed a project, involving a procedure that I'd never done. If hubby had been there, I'm sure I would have had him cut it, thinking he could do a better job than me. He probably could have, but mine came out pretty good too. It feels good to be able to do these kind of things on my own. Changed all the fluids last week. Yea! We're gonna do the entire 10,000 mile maintence next weekend (minus changing oils, which I did last week). We changed the brake pads to Lyndalls last week too, and I think I could now do it on my own. Love working on this bike!
