What do you ride and why?
Hey Grrlz!
I'm wondering what y'all ride and why... Soooo, I'll start off: I ride a 1989 Sportster that started life as a shy, sedate 883cc machine in a pretty blue color - but has evolved into a 1200cc monstah! I always wanted a Sportster so I bought one! Also have a 1983 XL1000 that I'll fix up a bit more and sell next spring. May go for a 1200 Custom as I simply LIKE the way Sportsters handle and GO... (I'll post a pic as soon as I figure out how to download it from my camera)...

Hi!
I started on a 350 Honda back in '78. It was what I could afford (to drop!) and handle. But I wanted a Harley because of the whole Harley thing.
When the kids got old enough to go with us I bought a trike from the White Bear Lake folks and that worked good traveling with children.
After they moved on I bought a Sportster. Then I quit riding for a handful of years.
A couple of years ago I got the riding bug again and called a local dealer and asked him to find me a Harley trike. He came up with this late Nineties 1300cc red Sportster for me. So it wasn't a matter of choice, but rather expedience.
I wouldn't have chosen red, myself. Thought it looked a little boxy and had plans to have the front forks extended until I found out what it would cost.
I've already got the bug again and may go looking for something else in a year or two. It all depends on how healthy husband and I continue to be.

I've got a '99 FLHTCI. My 2nd bagger - bought the first one in '94. I like having locking bags and the stereo. I love to travel and it's got enough room for all of my crap without having to look like a rolling pile of laundry going down the road.
She's got her share of mods as well... and quick for a "little" 95-inch motor thanks to some very capable "massagers".

My first bike was a used 78' 750cc Honda Supersport .. my second bike was a used 96' 750cc Kawasaki Vulcon .. my 3rd bike was a new 05' 1300cc Honda Vtx that I customed out .. my 4th bike is my dream bike .. a 2008 Street Glide, I couldnt decide what I wanted so I test rode the bikes (Road King, Deluxe, SG) .. I have already lowered it, put on different slipon pipes (I put those on when I got it home from the dealer), corbin classic solo heated seat, highway pegs, smoked driving lights, longrides windshield, new floor boards inserts (with matching brake and shift pegs), plus I have extended the floorboards out away from the bike by an inch, have the new tank bra for the bike .. for traveling I have a trunk bag that the big ultra bikes have (matching color of course) and I put on a motherwells rear fender luggage rack ... I also put on the leather saddle bag covers on to protect the lids from scratches .... future mods will be the handlebars, I am going to get the wild ones handlebars and new grips, I actually already have the grips. Then I will change out all the cables and run those through the bars. Next year, I want to get some new wheels , thinking of getting some black ones, not sure yet ... I love to travel, I put allot of travel miles on my Honda VTX .. and now that I am done with school for a bit, I am ready to put some traveling miles on my Street Glide ... Thinking of taking a road trip pretty soon actually .. about 2k miles ... hopefully this is my last bike for awhile ..

Now riding 2010 Street Glide, think it's the sexiest bike on the market. Have had Ultra classic, Heritage, and several rice bikes. Only regret is that it took me so long to discover Harley Davidson and the people that ride them.

On my first bike. Learned on my 2007 883 xl. Got the bike this past Winter as a aniversary gift. Took the class in April. I love my sporty just wish it had a little more power. Hubby has a V rod and is hard to catch.

I have a 97 Heritage Springer and an 09 Road King Classic. The Springer is my dream bike and the FLHRC is my comfy ride.

WHY do I ride?
1. My mother denied me a mini-bike when I was a kid. So I rebelled when I got older. Now I ride a 2010 street glide.
2. So I could split lanes on my way to and from work. (If you're from Cali, no need to explain).
3. Back in the 70's we had an energy crisis. We had to fill our gas depending on our odd or even plates. Odd numbered days allowed odd numbered plates to get gas and so on...almost bought a moped, but bought a brand new 125 Honda instead...the rest is history.
That's the WHY

I've always owned an Electra Glide, at 17 I bought my first one used a 66 (wish I still had it) for $200.00. In 2005 I switched to a trike because I have a bad equilibrium and legal blind in one eye.

My first bike was a 1997 Honda ACE. Didn't take long before I wanted to jump to a Harley (like my husband). First Harley was a 2004 Sportster 1200 Custom. Wasn't long before that was too small for me. I bought a 2005 Softail Deluxe. I absolutely loved this bike, but it had a flaw in the frame, and I wasn't keen on having the dealerhsip completely strip it, and rebuild it on a new frame. Saw the 2007 Street Glide and fell in love. It turns out it is the best handling bike for me out of all of them. My husband always said that the few times I jumped on his Electra Glide Standard, I handled it like a 2 wheel bicycle, leaning and moving through turns with ease. I have definitely found the bike for me. Looking forward to taking her to STurgis this year, as all my other Harleys had been there!
