Congrats!! On the Vrod!!
Probably the most "lady friendly" bike in the line up right now would be the Deuce- it has the lowest seat height. All the softies now have a counterbalanced motor so even though they are rigid mounted, they are pretty smooth.

OK, so I've put 10,000 miles on this wonderful thing since I got it in April. And, in the meantime, HD has come out with reduced reach handlebars, a better set-up for the reduced reach foot controls, AND they still offer the forward seat.
So, I'm set. I've toured on it, ridden tons of twisties, and spent miles and miles on it. I'm still convinced it's the best "girl's bike" HD offers -- it's so dang EASY to ride and SO MUCH FUN!!!
Anyway, just wanted to mention I don't regret my decision to get this beautiful thing.
Ladies, don't be afraid of this bike for ANY reason. It's AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!

How fun to run across this old thread and see the dates of when I first rode a v-rod, and when I got my 03 A!!! It will be 10 years next year, and 80,000+ miles on her.

Hi, Val,
Glad you re-activated the thread. I was reading through the old posts, thinking they were current, and it wasn't until this last one I realized the others were forever ago.
My instructor at the MSF class had recommended a V-star when I made it through class. I didn't listen, because I really wanted a Harley. I got a Sporster, and it didn't work out...long story. I never thought to sit a V-Rod back then. It's been a few years now, lots of trial and error. I'm short, only 5'5" and not blessed with long legs. My husband got me a new Street Glide for Christmas this past year. Whew! What a nice bike. It's got it all, and it's gorgeous, too. It is a tiny bit high for me, and I hope at some point he'll drop it a inch for me. I love it as is.
I think Harley Davidson really got it right as far as girls' bikes when they made the Deluxe. It's a good fit even for short girls.
Anyway, I'm glad you're here and that you deactivated the thread. 80,000 miles...I've got a ways to go to catch up with you. I'm lounging at the house right now, recovering from spinal disc surgery. We're in SC and the weather is awesome. My bike is out there, calling my name, dying for some attention. Maybe in a couple weeks. In the meantime, I'll be the sofa princess, taking it easy and asking for help with everything I need.
BTW, just think of the huge explosion of female riders since this thread got going. Awesome, huh?
Ride safe,

I bought my first bike a Dyna Wide Glide. Now on the flip side of things...I am 6'1 so the WG was great for me. A year later I traded up for a Road King. There are some of us who are really tall and need that stretch on the leg room. Ya gotta go with what suites you....for me its all about leg room!

I'm on a Street Glide now and never stopped regretting the sale of my Deluxe. Hoping I can find a used one in good condition to ride for fun. I miss it. The music and goodies on the S Glide are nice but...it's a very big bike for a girl and I don't always love it the way I did my Deluxe or even my RK, which was pink and oh so beautiful.
PS - I'm only 5'5" and my legs are not really long, so it's a stretch to the ground from my SG.

I know the Deluxe is made for shorter people. Not sure about it's other features. I sat on one and felt me knees would touch the ground, I'm only 5'8".
