My wife is a Motor Maid. It's the oldest women's riding group in the country. Some members have been in the group for 60 years and are still riding. The local chapter meets for dinner once a month. Some ride to the dinner. Once a year they ride to a Quaker Steak and Lube and everyone who attends the annual convention must ride to/from. Other than those rides, this local group doesn't ride as a group. My wife loves the organization, and the camaraderie. When one of the members passed away unexpectedly this winter, by wife rode 25 miles in 22 deg. weather to attend the funeral.
I don't understand the non-riding part, but as long as she's happy that's fine with me. Riding is the common interest and friendship is the glue.
Male SO's are welcome to attend the dinners. I went once and was welcome, but there was an entirely female dynamic going on. There was no discussion of bikes or anything technical. Now I only attend when my wife really wants me to. (Trophy husband? I wish.)
My wife does ride a lot with our HOG chapter and on her own. I think my wife would like to organize a ride for the MMs, but there seems to be an obstacle. I'm not sure what it is, but I have my suspicions.
Well, that's a peek into the dynamic of one group. I hope it helps you with your research. I'll bet your group isn't much different. Perhaps you'd want to include a lot of talk time in your rides.
