sgmfisher wants to know where he is and how he got here
Like most other stuff on this site, it is pointless. So, here, goes belt vs chain, water mellon vs ice cream, shaft vs chain, etc., etc. It is all pointless as it is subjective. Let those who like the shaft, get the shaft. Let those others get other things. In the wind.

It isn't this site. It's people. In general. Everywhere. It's how we roll.

The correct phrase is "couldn't" care less.

Thanks. Glad I'm not the only one that sees how wrong "could care less" is.

As a biker who has been on an Hd and Bmw for almost 30 yrs, i start either one, and go..never had a German shaft drive fail, and the usual belt service on my Harleys.Different animals, both great in their own way.

i'd think you have to have a lot of $$ to own a harley (i've got 2) because they are expensive & you always want to customize it MORE. how far can you customize a victory? ie how many aftermarket parts are available? can you get a top-end overhaul kit for the victory thats 10 years old?

I don't quite get your question. Is a Vic shaft drive? I ask cause I don't know but just having trouble understanding what a Vic has to do with shaft versus belt discussion. As far as accessories, from what I've seen there isn't much as well as few dealers.

VT Silver wants to know Dino or Syn?
I've got over 78,000 on my '03 Vulcan 1500 Classic. The shaft has performed flawlessly. I honestly don't notice the "jacking" effect. All drive systems can jack.

At Stage 1 it is apparent that there is a power loss due to both the shaft and the huge counter balance on the crank. I had it dyno'd and we saw HP at about 60 and Torque just over 80. Even with the HP loss I don't have much problem keeping up with anybody riding anything else at sane speeds. Maintenance means changing the 80-90 Hypoid in the fall.
