I toyed with the idea of buying a Rocket when they first came out. It a BIG bike, felt too big for my comfort. Although it's only 40lbs more than my Fatboy, the tank is huge and the whole thing is wide. But you've gotta admit the thing has some poop at 140hp and 150tq. Would have been fun just to test ride one.

While teaching at the Free ride in Irvine one of my students had one, he let me ride it around the parking lot after class....WOW, the guy was kinda whacko though ...he said in a couple weeks he was putting a turbo on it. I bet with that it would hang with a 'Busa....until the Triumph pulled away....LOL

Those bikes are really cool! I remember when they first came out one of the bike rags had a comparison test with the V-max, they were pretty neck and neck. If I remember right on the cover that big bastard was standing straight up on the rear wheel. 2300cc inline 3, very cool. The 3 exhaust pipes are a little strange though.

It sounds OK to me, for what it is. It certainly isn't a V-twin lope. Fellow nearby bought one because he said his Harley was scaring his horses, and the Rocket was quiet enough the horses didn't get spooked. Neat bike, but, there are lots of others I'd rather have, at least, given the real-life monetary constraint I have!

It does to me I just ditched the HSR42 on my Eglide for a CV44 for just that reason.
The Mik worked great but got lousey mileage especially when I climb from sea level to 5000 ft or more.
The CV44 does much better and performance is nearly as good with maybe just a little less initial throttle responce.
Still makes about 100/110
Since it's on a bagger that gets toured on a lot it was a good trade off.

No young one. The 2:1 is all you need. Anything else is uncivilized.

No, he/she must have been inside. I almost bought a Triumph Trident (3 Cylinder) in '74.
On our AR trip a few weeks ago, I spotted this one in MS. I belive it's a Speed Master.
