FXDRYDR is still riding a stock bike FXDRYDR is still riding a stock bike
Co-worker bought an 1800 when I bought mine. Typical Honda - well-engineered, well-made. Strong motor too. Probably out pull and out run any stock air-cooled HD.

Only "issue" for me was size - it was a large machine.

Black, chrome & loud.

That could be possible, I'm not in the dealership know. I know they are awesome machines. They are strong, and reliable. The one I had I wish I had back. They do not handle as well as a modern Harley. Of course, they handle very well. Especially, when you get used to handling that torque. The throttle is a little touchy because of the torque and vehicle weight. I never really seen them as having any clutch issue. You can take off in 1st or 2nd normally without any throttle above idle. I wouldn't say that the clutch is grabby. I think the torque may make it seem grabby.

That is probably a good assessment.

Just Plain

I rode one several years back and really liked the ride, but they just seemed to be plain to me for some reason. I bought a 2012 Stratoliner last year and I looked at the VTX 1800 then as well, and it just seemed plain compared to the Strat.
