Smoke coming out of one exhaust pipe, now bogging
Any direction anyone could point me in would be fantastic...
Just recently my bike started bogging and backfiring alot (similar to when the fuel runs out and I switch to reserve). In high rpms it runs fine and at idle it is fine too. From idle when I pull off (from anything, a traffic light, parking etc) puff of white smoke behind me. If the bike is really warmed up at idle I get smoking too.
As far as what I have done to maybe cause this, I haven't changed the plugs for a year, last year my bike was struck with a truck tire (came off a truck that was doing 50+) cracked my front fender and somehow cracked my camshaft holder, the guy who did the work is pretty reliable and maybe he just messed up and didnt install a seal correctly. I haven't pulled my carbs in over a year to clean them and I used 6 month old gas (I know it was a no-no but I just wasnt thinking). I have added some lucas engine cleaner to the fuel but thats all I have had time to do, does anyone have any ideas as to what has happened, a friend of mine told me it could be a worn valve?
My bike is a 1999 Honda ACE (dual carb)
I have also checked my oil levels and they are fine, not too high, not to low.
I am planning on taking a cross country trip, actually around the country starting in PA, going north to canada, down through washington, california and back home through southern states, so I need to fix this problem, and cheap if possible because I just lost my job and cant afford to have a shop rip my engine apart.
