Cush drive........

This is my first post here, guys, so here goes.

On my Suzi Marauder Vz800, I have cush drive, what would be the advantages or disadvantages in removing them? The reason I ask is that I want to put an aftermarket rim on the back, probably, Carriage Works. If I have to retain them, I can machine a new hubs to accept them, after all, I'll have to machine new hubs anyhow for the Suzi. Better yet, what would be a good substitute for cush drive? Another reason I'm asking is that the stock hub is quite large and newly machined hub with cush drive may not look that good, considering the size, about 6" across. Any suggestions?

FWIW

Only thing I know about a cush drive is a cushioned pulley was installed on my '01 Victory as a recall click here to deaden the severity of a hard shift that could damage components in the transmission. Or something along those matters. I am no wrench. Just repeating what I was told. To boot the pulley is nicely chromed.

*** bikes has been using the crush drive for many years. It is nothing more than a rubber cushion between the wheel and drive line. The advantage is the crush drive takes out the harshness of the drive line. Vibrations will be much more noticeable and will/can cause more stress on the drive line components. I am not familiar with any after market crush drives that can be used on after market wheels.
