Kawasaki KZP1000?

Guy at work has a 98 H-D RoadKing and at his house in Phoenix he's got a 94 KZP1000. His brother bought it at a police auction and then he bought it from him about 4 years ago as a project, but never got around to it. Willing to sell it to me for about $400 for my first bike

It's got 66k on the odo, never leaked a single drop of oil. The bad part is that it's sat in his yard for almost 2 years now, so the seat has some cracks, and not sure on the tires but they are holding air. He's going to take pictures this weekend and email them to me, since we're working in Yuma right now. He said that the electrical needs some repairs since they just ripped the police stuff off before the auction but that the bike still runs and operates, or it did before he stored it.He said the only other thing he knows of is that it needs a new front rotor.

Anyone with any info on these bikes? It would definately be appreciated.

That would be a great big bike to start out on. it is faster than an HD and not as comfortable, but you are getting a good price if it runs and the brakes are good. Check the tires because old tires don't always work as well as we would like.

Those Kawi 1000s were tough bikes. The only way I could kill the 2 I had was to crash them!

Those KZPs are really well made bikes. Damn near indestructible. I just bought three of them for riders to use as a training bikes for my motor school. I'm looking to buy a fourth!

If it's been sitting for two years, you may have to flush the fuel tank, and maybe clean or rebuild the carbs. Check the four rubber pieces that hold the carbs to the head. They may be dry rotted and leaking. Check the chain, as two years is a long time to sit without lube.

Drain the tank and put in fresh clean gas. Pull the spark plugs and squirt a little oil into the cylinders then crank it over to lube everything up. Put in fresh spark plugs and crank it. It should start. It may smoke a little, but let it warm up and ride it.

Lots of parts available on e-bay from time to time, including seats.
