I am local, stationed at Ramstein. Ride a red Ultra. Lots of good riding real close by.
Actually live 35 min south west of Ramstein, out and up in the hills.

tbiker99, where do you live. I live in Herschberg. 30 minutes south west of Ramstein off of A62. We are really close.
Can't wait to get some nice weather. Oh, yeah, and my bike.

At least, you are trying to speak/write! Writing is a lot more complicated than speaking, I now that. Do you prefer me to write english, or do you want me to write german for training?
Btw. , what part of california are you from? My wife and me are going to Portland in April and want to visit northern california (the redwoods, Lassen vulcanic and so on) Do you have special tips for us, what to do and what not?

MadMav,
Actually I live in Wallhalben, about 10K west of A62 off the Weselberg exit.
So your suppose to go pick your bike up this month? It can be kind of a pain, but you can tell they know what their doing over there.
I got mine last year right before Christmas, weather like this. I road it home. 33 degrees and raining. Hope you have better weather.

OK, back to Englisch. I'm learning German while I drive to and from work in my truck. ( not while riding my bike though) During my lunch hour, I study my German with the books that came with the tapes my wife gave me. At home my wife and my stepson are speaking German all evening so I'm hearing it a lot, but any practice I can get is much appreciated.
Re: Portland- the Ca. state line is 4 hours drive time from portland,( that is conservative driving) If you can find the time, the Redwoods in the northern state are a must see, almost a religious experience. Still in northern Ca. but further east is the Lassen Volcano, worth seeing but not as impressive as the cone shaped Shasta. Shasta is easier to get to also if your short of time, then there's Lake Shasta and Shasta Caverns. Much to see, almost too much for one trip. Sort of like Germany. My in-laws tried to show me so much I got tired of all the castles. The Zugspitze was definately a high point though. Have fun and travel safe.

One more note re: the redwoods, if these grew in Bayern, would it be the Rotwald?
The German navy would have made big red U- boats out of them. ( or not)
