Cool Swiss 500 miles

http://www.swiss500.ch/Englisch/index.htm

We do it again!!

Last year (2008) there was 295 Bikers starting and some 285 finished the Event in time. All this without a accident!

I'm wishing you all the best for the year 2009 and a lot of safe drives.

Best regards
Hans-Jürg

„An exceptional experience in Switzerland."

This will be your comment after you finished the 2009 Swiss 500 Miles ride.

We assure you that the organisation team will do everything to make this event unforgettable for you.

What is the idea behind the Swiss 500 miles?

After the participation of four crazy Swiss guys at the 2006 Antwerp Diamond Port Chapter 500 Miles in Belgium they came up with the idea, that such a crazy thing has to be done in Switzerland as well. On top of it we have also some really nice mountain roads to conquer. In order to make this possible an interest group (IG swiss500miles) was formed from bikers of all directions; HD-Clubs, HOG, MC, Freebiker, you name it. The IG swiss500miles is supported by Harley Davidson Switzerland.

The Swiss 500 miles means to drive within 24 hours 500 miles (805km) through Switzerland starting on a Saturday afternoon and finishing by Sunday afternoon.

The idea has now become a reality in Switzerland for Harley/Buell Bikers who really love and know how to ride their bikes.

The reward? Material wise just a pin. But a exceptional experiences to be told amongst your riding buddy’s. However, only those participants completing the tour and arriving back in Zürich in due time will obtain the pin as a remembrance.

What is the challenge about? Guided with a road book, the participants (in groups or individually) will drive through Switzerland (please remember to bring a Switzerland roadmap). Several checkpoints will have to be searched for (at each checkpoint, the participant will receive the address of the next checkpoint).

All we can say now is ride safe and have fun.

I participated in the 1st Annual Swiss 500 last year. It was very well organized, challenging, and a great ride. I recommend it if you're able.

I've also done the 2007 and 2008 Antwerp 500 and plan to be at the 2009 Swiss and Antwerp 500s.

I rode the Antwerp 500 miles 2006.
I remember the swiss riders, saw them last 2008 edition again.
The Swiss 500 runs the same week-end as the Benelux-HOG-rally in Leersum, Netherlands, so the 2010 edition will suit us better I hope. Keep it safe.
