2009 Canadian National HOG Rally
This maybe the wrong place for this, but I what the hey!
I see that the 2009 Canadian National HOG Rally is to be held in Calgary Alberta Aug 13-15. I know it is early, but this would be a nice ride up from Las Vegas, touring Idaho, Montana and Alberta.
Looking for any info on this rally.
1. How many would be in attendence at a Canadian Rally?
2. Lodging around Lake Louise
3. Day rides to do? Anything in Red Deer?
4. I believe the typical weather should be in the 70s????
5. Things to do and see in Calgary.
Feel Free to comment and give us some pointers.
Thanks
Highrider

Canadian National Rally Aug 13-15 Calgary
Hi...I expect there will be between 2000 to 3000 people at the Calgary Rally, mostly because it's the national event...but, also Calgary is a large enough city.
You mention accomodations at Lake Louise, and I thought you should know that would be further than you would want to ride to the rally everyday, but good for a day trip return. If you also want to go to Red Deer and the dinosaur valley area, then you might want to say towards Airedrie or Cochrane as that is North and North West of Calgary.
They haven't announced where the rally will be yet, or I can't find that information anyway...but, like I said it's a pretty big city.
Enjoy.

Alberta Ralley
Alberta has a lot to see, and I hope you folks come across the 49th and enjoy yourselves. At the moment your dollar buys about 18% more up here. Just a note: Alberta is notorious for busting you if you ride without a DOT lid, and bring your toques (no translation available).......I'm a native son, but on the wet coast

Yep...lots to see for sure. If you have time, you can hit the Crowes Nest and easily head south at many points, along the highway which runs the border, when time is up.

14th CDN National HOG Rally
You can go to the Calgary Harley Davidson website. It has a link for accomodations. Host hotel is Sheraton Cavalier Airport which is on the North end of Calgary. Lots of hotels within a couple of blocks. Not much info posted on the Rally itself yet. Don't know why. Too late to plan? Check out the 2010 Alberta Provincial Rally in Edmonton August 19 - 21, 2010. We are posting info all the time. Cheers!

Lake Louise is beautiful and expensive worth seeing also Banff is on the way. L.L about 2hrs from Calgary.
Red Deer has Gasoline Alley Harley Davidson fairly new store great to see.
Temp we hope is 70 for the festivities.
Calgary has a great zoo,Heritage park, Calgary tower,Two Harley shops.
We love to do the day ride through Long view, Black Diamond south of Calgary about 30 miles close to the mountains.

Bring your friends, Calgary knows how to party. Hell we go 10 days straight every July. If you are at the Sheraton (the host hotel) and wander one block down to the Ford dealership, stop in and say Hi. I'm the sales manager there.

Red Deer
The wife and I made it to the HOG rally last year in Red Deer. We were very pleased with the area. The city itself was easy enough to get around. Lot of restaurants for a smaller town. And everyone seemed biker friendly.

Tons of riding throughout the area with elevations and rideable passes to 7200 feet. The Columbia Icefields Highway (North of Lake Louise) to Jasper and Highway #40 (Highwood Summit) down through Longview Trail are two rides not to miss for those who love riding the Rockies. If your coming up around that time, hollar and let me know and we'll have a beer.

Come on it was fun watching the guys and gals trying to keep the rain spots off of the chrome at the show and shine today. I have lived in Calgary for 20 years and I can't remember ever seeing my breath outside in August. Go figure the weather is supposed to be back to the high twenties (80s farenheit) all next week.
