Hey Tim.
I work at the Wiesbaden AAF and live just north of Heidelberg. Where are you located? New to Germany or to the forum?
Happy rides.

No, not new to Germany...this is my fourth time here. New to the forum and new to the Harley world. For the last four years, I've been riding my customized 2003 Honda Shadow Spirit...
Just got back from Afghanistan and bought my first Harley... 07 Night Train. Getting ready to do a few upgrades to it...
Funny that you're in Wiesbaden...was just talking to my friend about driving there tomorrow...I believe Toby Keith is performing there somewhere.

Tim,
Sorry for the slow reply. I don't get on here often. I must say, your Honda looks great (SERIOUSLY), but I still like your bone stock Night Train, mostly because I prefer the "less is more" theme.
I have an 02 Heritage Springer and a project 1988, 883 Sportster that I am converting to a cafe style bike (clip-ons, flat paint..). I also have an 04 ZX10R, Kawi Green, so I am not a HD only guy. It's all good!
Welcome back from Afghanistan. I only had to spend 3 months there and it was probably a vacation comepared to what you probably went thru.
If you are in the Wiesbaden or Heidelberg area, give me a hollar on here.

Germany
Hey guys,
Sorry I guess that I am the last one to chime in on this one. I live in Okinawa currently but should be in Germany the mid-end of August. I will be bringing my new bike which is still being built by the MoCo as we speak. I purchased the new Screaming Eagle Springer. I can't wait to see/ride the beast but that will also have to wait until August because they wont ship overseas with their CVO bikes. I will have an extra HHG shipment from my HOR to ship it to Germany but not sure when it will get there. I have heard that the noise regs are pretty strict on inspection. I already have an appt to change the pipes, air filter and put in a SERT with a canned map. Let me in on any secrets you guys have about Germany and riding there. Thanx,
Seegarz

Seegarz,
Great to hear that you're coming to Germany. For inspection purposes, you pipes can't be louder than 90 db at half throttle. I usually use one set of pipes for inspection and another for riding. German cops "usually" don't mess with you...lol...usually. All they can do is ticket (fine) you...they used to be able to make you take you pipes off, but not anymore. Any idea where you're going in Germany?

Yep Yep,
Will be working at Landstuhl so where we are living is anyones guess. Somewhere local to there most likely. I am in the Air Force so I will be attached to Ramstein. We will be neighbors regardless of where we actually reside so make sure you make a list of great rides for me, KK.

Guess I didn't see this post earlier. I'm also heading to Germany at the end of August. I'm being stationed at Spangdahlem AB, so not that far away from you. Yea about the exhaust noise, been talking to some riders at spang and they said they raised the db from 90 to 95dbs and a few stock '07s have failed so far on the base. They said they just go to the local offbase inspection site and they pass there, so don't now how they are testing them on base? Looking farward to riding in germany these next few yrs.

Hi guys!
Just stumbled across this thread. I have been living in Idstein just northwest of Wiesbaden for the last 11 years. I know a lot of awesome rides in these parts.
If any of you are interested in riding, let me know. I work irregular times, but I try to get the weekends off when I can so drop me a line and we´ll go riding! Plus when I´m off during the week I´m always looking for folks to ride with (Not enough Harleys and too many of what Germans call "Yoghurt Cups" around here!)
Also, if you want to go it on your own, I can give you some riding tips.
AWESOME Night Train, by the way!

Hey T-Robb, sorry I haven't replied sooner. As I said, I don't get on here too often. As much as I love Harleys, they are only one flavor and I have been busy with some of my other bikes. I was just tinkering on my Springer last night, putting me in the Harley mood.
I live in Schriesheim, just north of Heidelberg. You?

Seegarz,
Welcome to Germany.
Sorry I haven't replied sooner, but I don't get on the forum as much as I used to. Too many bikes to tinker with I guess.
How did your bike registration go? As one member mentioned, they have loosened the original 90db limit somewhat, but not on paper. Too many bikes were failing, even some stock bikes. As another member mentioned, many riders install stock pipes for the inspection and put on the real pipes after. It's all good as long as you ride friendly and don't feel compelled to wring your right wrist every time you go thru town.
There is definitely some good riding over here, both locally as well as farther away. There are some good roads around K-town or near Heidelberg you have the Oden-wald (Old Forest). If you want to get farther away, both Austria and Switzerland are awesome.
Drop me an email if you are near Heidelberg for a ride. crazyhawk99@yahoo.com
Happy trails!

Hey, man...well, I used to live Heidelberg...my wife and I just PCS'd last week from there.
If you're looking for a good group of people to ride, hang with, and party with, check out Heidelberg County Choppers...myself and two other Germans founded the group. Great bunch of people.
