braided cables

i'm looking to change to braided cables on my 2003 fatboy.
does the teflon lined guts of the cable make a big difference?

also,i cant seem to find any info on lubrication.
some manufacturers say they are pre-lubed but nobody
talks about when you need to re-lube them and how
and what kind of lube to use.

I was told to lube mine with every oil change.
