Passing Lights

I am on my 3rd passing lamp they keep blowing out on me. I had the dealer fix some faulty wiring in the light housing and the light still burnt out. I took out the lamp and I was very disapointed to see that they left bare metal uncovered on the hot wire and the ground wire that I had put some electrical tape on for a temporary fix was not touched. Anyway my question is, Is this the cause of the lamp burning out or should I check something else????

If they left bare metal uncovered on the hot wire, then that would be my guess.

Look elseware.
If a bare wire touches ground, it will burn out the wire, not the bulb. Bare wires are not a problem if they don't touch anything.

One of my co-workers kept popping the same light on his bike. Turned out the socket contact didn't protrude out enough to make a good hard and fast contact with the solder on the bulb. Vibration may have been a contibuting factor also. He built up the solder on the bulb a little and hasn't had a problem since.

You might try that.

Ever try to change them to LED's like these??? Do a hard wire... rather than socket...
