Braided leather thingy hangin from front brake
Has anybody seen any guys running around with these long braided leather dealies hangin from their bike?
I was at the dealer today, and one of the bikes parked there had one hanging from his front brake lever, and someone said they are used to
blast someone's windshield if they are tailgating you or something.
Anybody know about these things?

It's like a speed control. When you get uo to 70mph, they slap you in the face.

The word out here is that they are called a "get back".
Their cover is dog control, but the intended use is retaliation for being jammed by a car when lane splitting. Said retaliation comes when used as a medieval mace that, when swung, causes the metal end that clamps around the brake and/or clutch lever to inflict damage to the offending vehicle.
Most are never used in this fashion; instead are merely a decoration or poser gear.

Hmmm..."long braided leather dealies".
Is that the technical term for them? Could you describe the dealie in more detail? Do you have a picture of the dealie??

I've seen them in my neighborhood on the kids tricycles but unbraided and they're pink or purple. they look the best if you have a jacket with leather strands hanging thingies.

They are great for making your brake light blink when your ride fast.

I searched yahoo images and came up with this:
http://www.aeromach.net/shop/leather_get_back_L.jpg
I see it has a quick release, maybe that's for when it gets caught in the front spokes??? that would suck

Another common item I've heard of for tail-gaters is the clear glass marble we played with as kids (refered to as "clearies" where I grew up). The "clearie" is launched over the riders shoulder and the evidence is obliterated as it makes impact with the offender's windshield. I suppose a "cat-eye" would work just fine, too, but stay away from "steelies" as the evidence remains intact.
