Lightbulb www.DONORCYCLES.com

www.DONORCYCLES.com

Could this be the answer to our helmet law troubles?

The concept is pretty simple, and it's a lot easier than trying to convince an uneducated public that helmet laws aren't the answer to motorcycle safety. "He who controls something has power over those who want it."

Sign and carry an organ donor card that says your organs can go only to residents of states without helmet laws. DONORCYCLES.com has cards you can print, as well as other organ donor links.

Now before you get chapped up, keep in mind that this can't decrease the number of donated organs - if anything, it will increase the number.

If you have any comments (good, bad, ugly), please send an email to donorcycles@gmail.com.

Neither, Sort Of ...

Neither, sort of. I didn't find it ... I created the web site (because I'm sick of the same old song and dance on helmet laws.)

Since there's nothing for sale, I'm not advertising either. I pay for the web site out of my own pocket.

How in the He11 is this gonna increase the number of donated organs? Yes, you do have whoever supports your cause signing an organ donation certificate, but you limit who it can go to. If you go SPLAT BLAM in say Birmingham Alabama who's gonna be able to get your donatable organs? Florida (the nearest no helmet law state, lemmie correct that, they do have a helmet law, so they may be no good either) is a good 200 miles away. By the time your organs are "harvested" and packed and sent they'll be no good for the patient who needs them.
Time is one of the biggest factors in organ transplants. The more time between the "harvesting" and transplanting, the greater chance of rejection.
Do the general public a favor. Sign you organ donation cards (usually on the back of your license) and leave it at that. I hope nobody ever has a need to see if your donor card is signed, but don't exclude people who have little or no control over what their state laws are suffer.

that's my biased opinion
-darrell (double transplant receipient, waiting for a third)

By the way, thank you for including donor sites on your webpage. That in itself may sway some to sign their donor cards.

I agree 100%. I really doubt the card carries any legal weight anyway. I know you can say whether or not you want to donate your organs or not but I seriously doubt you can dictate where they go.
On another note while I have no problem with people opposing helmet laws I think a lot of the reasons cited on the website for not wearing them are BS.

More Organs

Why would there be more organs?

Because usable organs don't go to waste. There are far more on the waiting list than there are available organ donors.

So if one additional person carries a donorcycles card, there's one more organ for the pool. One plus anything is one more than before.

There will always be a waiting list. States with helmet laws go to the end of it for my organs.

As to the legality of it, organ donation is completely up to the donor. Even if it wasn't, I'm sure reporters would love how sensational it would be ... and that will bring attention (and hopefully clout) to the bikers rights movement. Which is the point.
