Except as provided in Part 2 of this Article, any person or organization that operates any game of chance or any person who plays at or bets on any game of chance at which any money, property or other thing of value is bet, whether the same be in stake or not, shall be guilty of a Class 2 misdemeanor. If you are looking for some popcorn eating grade entertainment, ya' gotta just base an allegation that something is illegal on what you think, or what you read on another forum on the internet, or what some real estate attorney 8 states away told you.
This forum is going downhill fast.

I don't know about poker runs in NC but I do know there are some pretty interesting laws on the books in all states. I'm originally from Wilmington NC and in 1976 it was agasinst the law to buy razor blades on Sunday there. I found this out when I rode down from Michigan to my grand dads funeral. Been on the road two days and needed to prepare for the funeral which was monday. I went to the corner convenience store to buy a razor and was informed you couldn't buy cosmetics on sunday. Strange thing you could buy all the beer you wanted. In Palatka Florida it use to be and probably still is against the lawn to drive after sunset and before sunrise without someone walking 100 feet ahead of you with a latern. When I went to school there in the 60's the police used this law to stop people without probable cause.

Thats why if you win, you give all your money to a charity of your choice... That and you set the Poker run up as a Raffle. Little disclaimer at the bottom of the flyer. What DA is gonna prosecute that.. Personally I give my winnings to the Help Alaskan302 get more Beer Fondation.
