Oil Cooler Questions

I’m going to install an oil cooler on my 2004 Heritage Classic, but I don’t know which one. I’ve heard from two people that the HD oil coolers leak, so I was leaning towards the Jagg with a By-Pass valve.

Anyone have any experience with these, or a recommendation for another?

Thanks,
GC

darkknight is an unknown quantity at this point
I have an 03FLHTCI and put MOCO's 2004 oil cooler specifically designed for the baggers on mine. 5K miles on it so far with no issues. Buddy of mine has an EVO FXDWG, installed his own cooler with accompanying instructions and has had no issues with it. He claims ~ 30 degree temp improvement. Another buddy has 81 shovelhead FXWG with cooler and is perfectly pleased with it. I'm sure the other brands you are looking at are quality, but I went with HD because it was cheaper.

It's not the oil coolers that were leaking, it's the adapter that was part of oil cooler kit. By the way, it was made by JAGG if I remember right. The latest version of the kit in the 05 P&A book has been changed to solve the leaky problem.

Personally, I would use the adapter from the HD kit and the cooler from JAGG that mounts to the left frame downtube. Just my opinion though. The HD adapter also has a thermostat in it so manual bypass valve is not required.

Been hearing a lot of good talk about the Pro One oil cooler but it seems ya either hate the look or love it...I'm picking up a Sifton for an excellent price with all parts included about $199.00: braided lines, mounting hardware, filter adapter.

I just put the HD super premium oil cooler on my new 05 Ultra. No problems and no exposed oil lines. I did not put the chrome cover on. The black cooler is just not noticeable.
