I know it has been mentioned . . .

but some folks fail to pick up or comment in reply to the couple of posts about Citgo and where their money goes. Citgo is a Venezuelean Govt owned company. It became this way starting back in the mid 80's.

Now for those that may have missed Venezuelean Chavez's Communist leadership style - he has not only cozied up with Fidel in Cuba but also formed an alliance with Iran. He continues to try to change their govt's constitution against the peoples' will so that he can remain in charge indefinately. Since he toook office, he has set about trying to demonize the US in South America by developing huge comspiracy theories that the US is trying to invade his and other countries. (Sorry Hugo hate to admit we do not have that many troops to hold occupy three other nations at the same time.)

Sure he is backing the Columbian hostage mission, but that is failing.

So, since CITGO is owned by the Venezuelean Govt and he is trying to own the Govt. Then guess who is getting all the riches from the money HD pays them for the Syn3? I assure you it is not the people (like the socialist ideal would be).

I know that 7-11 was not crest fallen when they did not get their contract renewed after Chavez took power. Who can blame them? Why financially support someone like him? He continues to use the little oil that CITGO provides as a weapon by constantly threatening to cut off US supply everytime the US questions his actions in the international arena. Then he turns around and promises to lower price for fuel in poor US areas. I have not seen it in the rough areas that I ride through in rural TN or in Nashville, so someone is taking off with the money or he has not followed through.

It just does not make sense to me to buy HD Syn3 if I avoid it. It is not a quality issue, but more of an ethical one of where the money finally goes. Bet HD switches suppliers again after their contract is up with CITGO.

i just got this in email

THIS IS NOT A JOKE. IT IS SERIOUS STUFF. PLEASE READ IT AND ACT APPROPRIATELY AFTER YOU UNDERSTAND THE SITUATION.

Subject: Citgo Update: Verified with SNOPES--this is unnerving

IN ORLANDO LAST WEEK, AT A CITGO STATION REGULAR GAS WAS PRICED AT $2.82 PER GALLON, NO CUSTOMERS, HOWEVER ACROSS THE STREET WHERE FUEL WAS SELLING FOR $2.85 PER GALLON AND ALL PUMPS THERE HAD CARS WAITING TO FUEL.

Have you noticed how the Citgo signs have disappeared in the past 7-8 Months? Very clever move by Chavez. But guess what CITGO IS now CHANGING ITS NAME...this is serious Americans...make sure you read.

>-------- NEWS FLASH -------<"

Chavez is NOW getting a Russian Weap ons Factory built by Putin. The RUSSIANS Are building an AK-47 Kalashnikov Assault Rifle factory in Venezuela, to Give armament support to Communist Rebel groups throughout the Americas. Chavez NOW has IRANIANS operating his oil refineries in Venezuela for him. It is likely only a matter of time, if not already, before Chavez has Iranian built LONG RANGE missiles, with a variety of warhead types aimed at: Guess Who?

CITGO is NOW in the process of Changing Its Name to PETRO EXPRESS due to the Loss of gasoline sales in the USA due to the recent publicity of ownership By Chavez of Venezuela. Every dollar you spend with CITGO or PETRO EXPRESS Gasoline will be used against you, your basic human rights, and your Freedoms. He will start wars Here in the Americas that will probably be the death of millions.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT because Chavez is starting to feel the loss of Revenue from his holdings.HE OWNS CITGO. This is a very important move t hat Everyone should be aware of.

ANNOUNCED JUST RECENTLY, CITGO, BEING AWARE THAT SALES ARE DOWN DUE TO U.S. CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO BUY FROM "CITGO-CHAVEZ", HAVE STARTED TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SOME OF THEIR STORES TO: "PETRO EXPRESS". DO NOT BUY FROM "PETRO EXPRESS" EITHER!!! "PETRO EXPRESS" IS ALSO 100% OWNED BY "CHAVEZ."

KEEP THIS MEMO GOING SO THAT EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING.

-------- "CITGO" AND "PETRO EXPRESS" ---------

MAKE SURE THIS IS PASSED ON TO EVERYONE IN YOUR E-MAIL LIST IN THE UNITED STATES AND OUTSIDE OF AMERICA.

Check Snopes again

I do not know if the last paragraph was on there where the Snopes folks checked into Petro Express, but from what I read it seems that they are not owned by Citgo but rather get supplied by them until Oct. 2006.

Either way, if it is clearly a Citgo product (like we know Syn3 is) or has the Citgo mark - I will not be buying it.

Thumbs down

Don't know if anybody is reading this thread any more.

Just a little more food for thought though, and that's the price I just paid for my LAST qt of Syn3, which was $14.95 (I really needed it.)

Never again, in any bike, when I can get any of the previously mentioned oils and some that haven't been mentioned for under $10 qt. Politics being what they are; the pocketbook generally gets peoples attention!

Where did you get ripped like that? That is $5 more than the local HDs here. Was the guy selling smoking a big Cuban Cigar and wearing a lot of military gear?

You're making me feel pretty bad about that buying decision RC. And that's after I already beat myself up on it.

It was Bellingham Harley, in Bellingham WA. They said that's what the new going rate is by HD, and I was doing a primary cover change and rather than check I just ponied up. Like I said, LAST one.

It sort of goes along with the rest of the story, at least for BHD, and maybe most dealers. Prices in general are through the roof. The best exception to that IMO is Surdyke.com and others that have online ordering. Most parts are 20% off list.

It is dealers pulling crud like that that makes it a joke to spend money there. Last year I was at a dealer and picked up a quart of oil on a trip. When I paid for it, the guy said that he was going to give me a discount. So after the deal, the price was the same as the 3 other dealers closer to me (and they don't give customers jack).

I am glad he gave me the discount, I do not carry KY with me to pay full price!

The idea of Syn3 running in all three holes is great, but some other manufacturers state their can do the same thing on their bottles. So at least until HD buys from someone other than Citgo or Citgo is no longer in control of the wannabe dictactor from Venezuela - I will be switching brands for sure.

AMSOIL 20w50 in the Engine and Primary.

Redline Shockproof in the tranny.

Keep it simple!

Hi

Just had the 1000 mile service done on my 07 Dyna Low Rider. I had the HD dealer put in Syn3. I had never heard any 5th gear whine, until the switch to Syn3 in the trans. The transmission started to make noise after about 30 min. at 60 mph in 5th gear. My wife even picked up the gear noise. I will change back to trans gear lube, Redline Shockproof.

Amsoil & M1 are top oils for us, the Amsoil has the best add pack. I run Amsoil in everything and highly recommend it.
