Tales from the dark side

Hi everyone,
this is the first time I've ever written into a forum or anything else for that matter, so please forgive any mispellings or punctuations. My question for discussion concerns "Black" Harley owners and their participation in local rides and events.

I lived and rode in NoCa for over 10yrs until I had to relocate. I've attended many events from Street Vibrations to the Redwood Run and I attended as many of the areas local runs as I could. That being said I can tell you that when I would go to these events I was in the minority (pun intended) and in some cases I have felt unwelcome. Was it because there were so few black riders in the area and it showed up in that way? Was it because of some underlying feeling that I (we) didn't belong to the Harley owners culture? Or was it simply that I was blowing things all out of proportion and needed to take a chill pill and get over it?

I can't tell you how many times even now I get asked "were'nt you going down so-n-so road on your bike the other day"........."you mean there's another one"?

What do you think?

My guess is you were probably blowing things out of proportion. It seems to happen alot on both sides of the race fence. But on the other hand Locally we have a sport bike club that will only allow black members WTF is up with that? Im sure if it were the other way around it would probably be a problem. Me personally I could give a rats ass if your black, brown, white, yellow, purple, or green as long your riding its cool to me.

Hey Bigdadi dont sweat it some people still live in the past theres not as many as there used to be, if your rideing thats all that matters to me oh and ride safe very important. If you are ever down south Louisiana look me up we will ride, might even take you to New Orleans. Just keep it in the wind and if people dont like you because of race that is there problem find others that will accept you as a man. Be Kool.
