Thank you all...here is what my wife said about it on our club's message board....
"Many of you who know me are aware that I have spent some time in a children's home. That home is now in jeopardy of being closed within the next year. Actually, I believe the decision has already been made and now the only thing to do is try to petition to keep it open, or at least salvage the historical buildings located there.
Without going into the reasons why, I spent several years of my youth in ISSCH. The time there has since shaped me into the person I am today. I have countless memories and friendships from my experience there and will treasure it for the rest of my life. Many of the children I knew while I was there were refugees from homes worse than even the most horrifically imaginable conditions. Without the love, guidance and structure of the home, many of them would have died or become throw-aways of society.
I know MANY highly successful people who spent time in ISSCH, but the one thing we ALL share is a sense of pride for having been given an opportunity to have a better life
Even if you have no idea why you should waste your time with a petition that doesn't concern you....please at least visit the site below and read what it means to so many of us. Since at least 1891, the home has been a place like no other, it's a place of hope..........for that reason alone, please take a few moments to help keep it in its function.
If you are kind enough to sign the petition......you will be asked what your affiliation is to the home.....simply tell them you know someone whose life was touched by it!!!!
