Tailgating vehicle ~ 6,000# or more
You on your bike ~ 800# give or take

Tailgating vehicle ~ demonstrating irate behavior and stupidity
You on your bike ~ out for a ride on your motorcycle (usually fun)

Do you really want to throw something at them and see if you can do an imitation of a speed bump? Agree with the comments on let them pass, get out of their way. Not worth the effort of trying to play the Hollywierd image of a bada** biker.

I have never intentionaly damaged someone's vehicle but I have intentionaly damaged people who deserved it and will again if needed.

Had a guy tailgate me yesterday. I gestured over my shoulder, with my thumb, to back off. He did. I waved thanks over the same shoulder. Made it home alive.

I'm a rookie here and on the bike. Some of your suggestions, I'm sure, take care of business but I have to agree with the 'live and let live' policy. The first day I was out I was passed on a highway ramp because I hugged the inside curb in the turn. I see that as my fault; but the cop that saw HER do it thought otherwise.

Life is too short and I haven't ridden enough miles yet so I'll just ignore them and flash a brake light.

Most of the time when someone is tailgating me either on the bike or in the car, I just pull over and let him pass. If he is in that much of a hurry, he will not likely slow me down later, he'll just speed off.

It's the slow ones in front of me I have more trouble with.

I rarely have this problem on the bike on the highway. Occasionally on winding roads at night I will ride slower than cars but if they are in a hurry I just let them by. On the highway in a car though I always give a tap on the brakes. Enough for the gator to also visibly see me slow down for a moment. Then when they hit their brakes I hit the gas. This generally wakes them up. Many highway tailgators are simply zoning out on cruise control and need to be snapped out of their dream state.

I usually pull over and let them go their way. Any other action can sometimes end badly.....remember, bikers are just roadkill for a big SUV!

Throwing things over your shoulder must be an urban myth, Ive heard so many people say this is what I would do but I have yet to actually meet anyone that has done it or does carry those objects.

Tough guy fantasy?

Kind of like 'hard brake check'. <--There's a good idea, huh?

I think it should be legal to point your gun at the tail-gater. After all that person is pointing something just as dangerous. I've had my share of the sob's and I've sure wanted to. But try it and guess who would get arrested. It isn't fair.
