07 Heating issues
Is there any truth to the rumors about heating issues and noisy transmissions in the new 07's?

..border thing..gotta make sure it's right before it gets the free pass you know....we had an early end to the riding season so there aren't a lot of high mileage '07's out this way and heat really isn't an issue on export bikes in this market..doesn't really get that hot here. The transmission noise could be something but I've got an '04..fourth is noisy, had a '00, fourth was noisy, had a '96..fourth was noisy..maybe they're just noisy.

It's not a big deal....at least on my '07 Ultra. A few hundred bucks and I'm in great shape! You might try doing some searches here at this site for ideas on how to fix the '07 "problems". I'm very happy with my '07.

trooper113, I ride a 07 FLHRC, No heating issues. But the noisey tranny is a on going problem with in the touring group. As for me, check out the F6F from BAKER. I did the up grade..........quiet as a mouse.

Thanks for the suggestion. So far, I've not been unhappy about the loud transmission some owners have reported. My Ultra had 5th gear whine, but got better and better as time went by. I changed to Amsoil 75w-90 gear lube at 1K miles and that helped even more. I honestly can't say that I can even hear 5th gear or any other tranny noises now at about 3K miles.

I've heard about 5th gear being noisy on the new 6-speed. No problems with noise on mine, and I haven't had any excessive heat issues. I'll wait and see what happens with the heat here in a month or so when the Texas heat gets going good.

Glad to hear somebody has done the Baker F6F installation because I plan on doing it too. How many hours did the shop charge you install the F6F kit. I am getting quotes from 6-10 hours labor. Did you have an independent shop do it or your HD dealer?

Fuel management such as SERT or PCIII and heat shields from Kuryakyn or http://www.rjsoriginals.bizland.com/newSelect0010.htm
I use a PCIII and RJS heat shields (and syn oil) for my '07 Ultra.....engine heat is no longer a problem. Some folks add an oil cooler, but that primarily helps when the bike is moving.

Heat and noise gone for now
If you were to check back on the posts elsewhere on the board, you would see that I had serious problems with heat and 'tranny' noises. I tried different maps using the SERT and found that the problem for ME could be eliminated by installing the right map. My pipes were so blue and the engine so hot... even when it was completely stock it was unreal. Not sure about the free fixit that Harley is offering... but anything is better than what came stock. Not a bit of noise and a much cooler running bike so far riding in 75 degree weather.
