07-96c.i. bike recall

the harley dealer says they will hook the bike to the computer and adjust the smootheness of shifting gears and better the way the bike runs. i have not felt that my bike shifts ruff or overpowers the gears, only that it felt hotter (bought bike early sept.) while waiting at a light. general scuttlebutt i detect is everone says running so lean is the big issue. my ? is are they really changing the lean, heat problem. the bike runs good now, i'm going to get the daytona twin tec efi tuner in march so won't i be able to change the lean, hot problem. i just don't want them to do somthing and give me back a headache.

From what I understand its just a download and richens the bike up a bit. Most say it helps. Might have it done it is free and if the dtt doesn't work out will be something to fall back on.

It is a torque smoothing upgrade. Nothing to do with redoing the EFI map. They ain't gonna touch that unless you put on a stage 1 kit and buy the way you have to buy the new map.

The torque smoothing is done by changing the map. Some timing changes
and possibly some small fuel changes.

Took mine in and it took longer to sign it in than to do the upgrade as they called it. It was a plug and play upgrade. I was out the door in 20 minutes. The bike has a definite difference in the way it runs at low speed and starting off. I can actually go through a school zone without it lugging.

Just got to about 1000 miles on the build today and gassed up before I came home. Running right at 40 miles per gallon. Just running the crossovers and S/E slip ons. I have not done any data logging yet, am running the stock map for this build with a few minor mods. Sure runs good, lots of get up and go. I am very happy with the build.

07 recall

thanks for reply, I cleared the snow and ice to get out yesterday. With just enough time to ride quickly to the stealer. Had the torque calibration done, tweeked the air pressure. Ran really "quicker" towards the house. Still to early, though did seem to get goin in the lower gears.

Digging up this older post to ask if this problem has been rectified in the '08 models.

It was rectified in the 07's from the factory in Nov. 2006. The 0903 calibration was for the earlier 07's. Most didn't do it as they had already installed a SERT, PC111 or some other tuner.
