No offense meant, 21 days at $11M/day plus the increased labor cost. So who's going to pay? Glad I already own one, hope I don't need parts. As an owner and stockholder, not jumping for joy. Have little knowledge of pay scales or working conditions, hope it is equitable for everyone including me and you.

Like they say at the race track, "And they're OFF!!!"

Let the union vs non-union invective begin.

A Union is what you make it

Looks like a bunch of kiss a$$ white collar R.U.B. bikers in this post....
Dont be jealous of the union pay scale, or maybe you think the workers dont earn there money?..90% or more of them do...they do the work faster, better, and also take pride in it*( a real craftsman always does)..sure, there are some lazy here and theres in unions..but guess what, theres lazy people everywhere that take advantage of there work situations..it sure as hell isnt because they are union. my unions motto is "a honest days work for an honest days pay"...the contractors that sign agreements understand our side, and we understand theirs ,its a two-way street... now I also know, that all you ME ME ME people wanna keep all the cash for yourselves,or maybe believe you're somehow more intelligent than everyone else and everyone else is "below you"...sorry!!
....its like this, when your car breaks, do you take it to a certified mechanic? or do you take it to BUBBA?..eventually Bubbas original cheaper price is gonna catch ya in the end*... now I didnt say that EVERY company in the world can become union thats understandible...but dont come cryn when you lose that job you been kissn a$$ all these years for because:.. "just because"..or " "just dont have what it takes"...translation: another kiss A$$ makes less than you ...but he'll do your job.- maybe you could stop at walmart on the way home ?..you'd fit right in....Unions try to better everyones lives..people that say they suck are selfish or not very knowledgable about them. not all unions are made the same I'll agree to that...but neither are people...some are fake!

Better watch out, those RUBs are the reason for HD's success today and your job.

I have no use for unions. I saw first hand the results that unions caused to the steel workers in Pittsburgh in the 1970s.

So now you need to piss on all the good Bubba's out there? I bet you think the only people qualitied to work on Harleys are the good ole factory trained mechanic? That's BS.

Hi this is a capitalistic society, you are way too socialistic for me. Yep, I want to keep my damn hard earned money (yea, some of us work damn hard for their money too, without union representation, imagine that), you sound like that is a crime to want to keep our money.

Wow.... Do you work for HD or a union member somehwere else? I'm just curious why there was a strike. I've been to the Powertrain Ops plant a couple of times and all seemed like a great place to work. Is this not true for the other operations?

The company was looking at making changes to the benefits package and introducing a two -tiered wage system. This kind of stuff has been known to make bargaining units a little nervous.
Uusually, over the life of an agreement, there are issues that come up that need some resolution, some are handled through the grievance procedure, others have to wait to be dealt with at negotiations.
Another long time habit is that the employer is to continually "test" the collective agreement..which they do..and it's their right to do so. The union's obligation, and their reaon for being there is to defend and protect the agreement and the members of the bargaining unit. The only time the union can say enough is enough is at the bargaining table..sometimes things can get a little testy. I'm sure there are lots of great places to work that have a work stoppage by a strike or a lockout. The good ones will remain good after the job action ceases..it's just part of the process, nothing personal.

The dealer wants to get as much for the bike as they can
The purchaser wants to pay as little as possible

somewhere in there is a workable solution
That's pretty much how it works.

1. Rubs are the reason for the flooded bike market...(wanted a bike- now doesnt*) used bikes everywhere...
2. I dont work for the MoCo..(Operating Engineer) Cranes
3. Quit living 30 years in the past
4. I didnt piss on the "bubba's"...Tried to make a point that the most qualified person is best for the job.
5. And I also didnt say you couldnt keep your money, I'm saying everyone should have a fair share of the money that companies make since it's the employees making the money for them! ..I.E.> walmart for example should pay better, give better benefits...give the people that do the work for them some of the billions...
