Stock Cylinders Bored to 98"/107"
Folks,
We are now offering your OEM cylinders bored to either 98" for the 88's, and 107" from the 96" engines in our machine shop. We are able to do this via a special piston that we have available to us here.
They are bored in a fixture that I manufactured for use in one of our lathes, and honed with a Sunnen hone, and finished with a #280 stone. Beautiful work.
If you folks are looking to up-grade your engine by doing this our even by boring to 95" or 103",( much more than boring avalable here) please contact us anytime and we will be more than happy to help you.
Scott

Scott - Is this something that is standard enough that you want to post a cost for the service? Jim

I'm also curious about the cost. How much of a cut is this? Five cubes per cylinder seems like quite a bit, will the stock jugs handle this without leading to overheating issues? I've never bored any Harley jugs, so I'm curious about the limits.

Cost
The cost of the cylinder boring and the J&E piston kit, with a complete Cometic top-end gasket set (.030 head gasket) is 635.00 plus shipping.
Pretty darn reasonable. No reason to question the reliability, as a couple of shops we know of, have been doing this for years. No problems.

We warranty that we will size the cylinders to the pistons correctly as we always have done, and there will not be fitment issues whatsoever.
If we do the complete job in house, again as we always have, there is a 6 month/6,000 mile ironclad warranty.

For us ass dyno guys on heavy bikes can you actually feel a difference in the seat of your pants over the 95 upgrade or is it all for nothing?

The bore is 3.9375 (3 15/16). Pistons are available at a plus .005 from what we are told.

heads for 98"
What are you suggesting for heads to go with the 98" set up? It use to be stock heads would work with a 95" set up. Not perfect but acceptable.

A set of our Stage II heads is all that build would need.
Just did one 2 weeks ago, with a Bob Wood TW-6G bolt-in cam, a stock carb, Pro-pipe, and a Crane ignition, and we sent it home with 100.1 hp and 116.5 ft/lbs @ 3700 rpms. Happy owner. That job earned us 3 more from his buds.

Piston
Scott,
Is it a flat top or any dome on the piston? For those that are happy with their existing heads and cam.
Thanks,
