Even though this has been said, a repeat might help some folks. When you join your local H.O.G. chapter most people there won't know you or anything about you, but there are so many members that they assume you have probably been around. The very best way to get into your chapter is to go to meetings and volunteer for stuff, they always need volunteers. Not only is this a great way to get involved, my wife and I find it can be more fun than the actual ride or other activity. Before long you begin to get some nods and jokes thrown your way, it is even more enjoyable going into the sponsoring dealer since they often recognize you from fun times away from work. Really, try it.

Thumbs up

Any local chapter has to take certain steps in preparing for rides and events to make sure people are safe. I hope to help out with the local chapter in some of their festivities this year. I am proud to be a Harley owner and love my new 100th anniversary Sportster. Imagine learning how to ride your first bicycle. It was fun and it rode like a charm. Wow! We know Harley’s originated from a bicycle. I am learning all over again and with power. I don’t want to miss out on the group fun it can be an experience. Don’t park to close to other bikes and leave room for others.

Harley Girl, you have a great attitude, it sounds like your Group and LOH will be lucky to have you. With your positive approach you sound like a natural. We are amazed at all of the sour members we have among our local chapter that has 1006 folks at last count. The membership is cheap and only a few do most of the work for the bunch. They seem to think there should be a red carpet awaiting just them when they decide to show up for a few events. Unless you know some of the people it is gonna take a while to find others to pair up with. We now have 1006 members from all over, so unless you actually see some of them regularly you aren't gonna be able to keep track of them. Also, some think the Group officers are on a power trip, they should try putting any one of the events together. Our MDA Poker Run had 146 volunteers, putting in over 2000 man hours of work, and we drew in over 1450 riders - some members just gotta be in charge to make it work. Only the lone wolves will be torqued off, the joiners will have a great time.

Yes, I can’t wait to get started and I know I have a lot to learn about H.O.G. I am so excited about getting involved with the events and getting to know the members of the group. I am just getting started so I will keep you posted.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
