105th and Cameras
I am going to the 105th, plus as you see by my Log-in name, I do photography. So I am taking some Pro-gear with me to the 105th. I understand the Springsteen concert is a different venue, but the "included" concerts are the question.
Are cameras restricted from the concerts? Springsteen has a seperate charge, and probably has rules eliminating cameras. But I don't want to try to secure expensive cameras on the bike after walking around before the concerts. I will not be selling any images, but after 35 years as a military photographer and photojournalist, I always carry some camera gear.
Anyone deal with this at the 100th or know of restrictions or contact info for the 105th?? I have been looking at the HOG site and no info or restrictions posted so far.
I have asked here since its a HOG and HArley rally.
Thanks

Not professionally, but I took lots of personal photos at the 100th, including the bands playing at the Summerfest grounds. No trouble at all. The main show had a 'no camera' rule, but I saw lots when we got in to the Roadhouse stage area. I didn't even try since it was a long walk from bike parking to the Roadhouse stage and didn't want to double back.

I would not bring nice equipment into the summerfest grounds. They allow cameras but like previous post side there are signs that in some areas prohibit them, and depending on who the rent a cop is they can and have taken them. I would go small pocket sized, thats what we did for summerfest and worked out good.

Camera108,
Where are you riding out from?
We're leaving Tuesday from Sykesville.

Zephyr,
Leaving from DEALE area, But leaving the Friday before. Riding out with another couple and taking our time to get there Monday night to a B&B about 30 miles north of the rally.
Other couple riding together so wife is deciding on riding her Sporty out or sitting on the back of the SG. More party time at the rally for her if she rides on the back.
Thinking about riding out on "30", since coming back we will be doing it in 1 or 1 1/2 days of Interstate.

I had my Nikon D-SLR at all concerts / events on the 100th... no problem.
My problem was Elton John as the main event!!!
Geez... i still can't get over this.
Then they promised Lynyrd Skynird for the 105th... and cancelled.

Skynyd is scheduled at the Washington County Fairgrounds Thursday night, I think.
That's where the HOG 100th was at. Did they cancel that date?
Otherwise there's a another venue this year, sponsored by local HD dealers

what they said wasn't what they did
Was there at the concerts, and although the tickets clearly stated no cameras they didn't enforce it. When Bruce started playing the number of flashes from the crowd must have nearly blinded him so there were lots of cameras (see the pictures on Motorcycle.com's story of the 105th) everywhere. Hope that you decided to risk it, I know that I got a ton of great pictures at all the events.

Well my 2 cents. I had front row for the Springsteen concert, and they sent me back from the North gate saying no Pro cameras but Point&Shoot OK. So walk about a mile back to the bike to trade for my P&S. By the time I got back they had let people in the West gate and gave out all the armbands for the ffront area. PLUS now I was told no Point&Shoot cameras. I did make a small stink letting them know; 1st) the info from the North gate said about the smaller cameras, 2nd) If enforced I would wait untill all the CellPhone cameras were collected and turned away, 3rd, it was about 2PM and Springsteen was not due till 8:30 so I had plenty of time to hold up the line. Well finally someone made the policy that if North gate said yes to P&S cameras, West gate would allow them.
BUT, all the armbands were gone, go I could not get up front. Well about an hour later, after many angry people at the front area, a bunch "BUM_RUSSED" the gate up front and I went along with them.
SO, I got in the second section with my small camera, and watched many people with "pro" cameras walking around and shoot the concert. To repeat from another thread, I am glad HD is better at building bikes than managing the 105th concert program.
