Here's the info on the Texas Helmet Exemption Sticker. http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/msb/

Frequently Asked Questions.

Do passengers have to meet the same age/insurance/training requirements as the operator?

It is presumed that operators and passengers on a motorcycle displaying a helmet exempt sticker on the license plate or plate holder meet the age/insurance/training requirements.

No helmet exempt sticker on the motorcycle? If the motorcycle owner has the state-required minimum insurance, passengers, providing they are at least 21 years of age, can ride on a motorcycle without a helmet.

Is the helmet exemption sticker required before a motorcyclist can ride without a helmet?

No. The sticker indicates that the motorcyclist meets the requirement for riding without a helmet, and law enforcement officers will presume that they do. Without the sticker motorcyclists may be requested to show police officers their proof of course completion or insurance coverage.

Got back last night. Unfortunately, it rained while we were there but we got in one great day of riding. We rented our bikes at Javelina Harley in Boerne. Boerne is just a short drive northwest of San Antonio. The plan was to pick up the bikes on Sunday but the weather didn't permit so we rescheduled for Monday. The rental place was very accommodating. I got a Road King and my brother got the Deuce Softtail. We asked for route ideas at the dealer and they suggested a great ride to Fredericksburg that took us through Lueckebach Texas. Most of the ride was off the main roads and beautiful. We stopped at Fredericksburg at the microbrewery there and had beers and lunch. Excellent chicken fried steak! The ride was 150 miles but it was a scenic, winding trip. We were out on the bikes for 5 1/2 hours. It was perfect. Another day would have been nice but severe storms kept us off the bikes for an additional day. Even during the rain we had an excellent time in San Antonio. Good food, good bars.
Thanks to everyone for there help.
