News on V ROD

Hi Guys and Gals,

I am fairly new here and am selling my 2013 Street Bob and looking for info on a V Rod? Is Harley going to update this line? I want one I wish they could have the power output of the Ducati Diavel line...

Any info would be appreciated!

Ride a couple of them before you commit...to me, they don't have a place,, know what I mean??? Too quick to ride with most harleys, too slow to ride with real sport bikes, maybe if you pay the harley tax, you may be able run with the sport bikes...I've never hot rodded a vrod...
I hate the gauges.

Not into them myself but owners seem to love them. There's a forum - 1130.com IIRC - where a lot of knowledgeable v-rodders hang out that might be a good source of info for you.

Just looking at the specs, IMO, if they trimmed at least 100# and preferably more, went to mids and maybe tweaked some chassis geometry - it might attract more people. As it is, it's betwixt and between - too fat and raked out to be sporty; too modern-looking and maybe wrong power band to be a cruiser.

Yup. Don't have a place is a good way to put it. See a post every now and then about someone selling their big twin and going to a VRod. Nothing wrong with that but I always wonder why. I mean, if you wanna go faster why not get a ryce rocket import and be done with it.

I've never ridden a VRod but wouldn't mind taking one for a test drive. From what I read about them I expect a V would be impressive speed wise compared to my 103 Road King. Hell I'd prolly scare myself LOL. Maybe that's why big twin guys go to them... because they seem so quick after riding the big twin, and they can still stay true to, say they still have a Harley??

They did, it called a VRSCR model made it for 2 years and didn't sell worth a crap, so they dropped the line.

There are big bore and stroker kits available that can get you 150-160 HP normally aspirated.
There are also turbo and supercharger kits that will do the same.

ANY Harley in Stock form, have a lot to be desired as far as suspension and power output.

I use mine alot for cross country trips and do 700 miles a day with no problems at all.
I added drag specialties adjustable floorboards which gives me foot room to move around and can put my feet in the mid position. I also changed the front pulley to the HDI pulley and dropped the rpms for cruising.

I still like the bagger mods that have been shown in a few of these threads.

While they have a lot of power, the weight and suspension would put me wanting my Buell for sport riding. Ridden a few different sport bikes, the Buell seems to be the best fit for me.

I have an 04,and while the power band is different, it's very much capable of riding with the ordinary Harleys. I do it a lot, I also enjoy riding solo.

After riding an "ordinary Harley" since 2007 I now ride a 2013 NRS. Now the guys riding ordinary Harley's (in my group) try to keep up with me

I had a 2006 VRod Street Rod in my possession for a month or so while working on it, and it's a whole different animal from a "normal" HD. You gotta TWIST the throttle and get the revs up to feel what it's got. I liked it a lot! I thought about getting it as a second bike, but decided if i was going to have a second bike, it'd be a FXR.

I was one of those guys who despised those bikes just for what they were. I mean, I hated the v-rod with a passion.

I've changed my mind on it recently. I now see it as an option, not so much a bastard. I think the v-rod could be cool, it could have potential but I think they've got is stuffed in the wrong chasis. I feel like they could do a couple of things and really make something great out of that power plant. First would be a bagger, I mean full on ultra classic with that engine, it would be perfect, power, water cooling, etc it could be a great seller. Second would be a sport or sport touring bike, something that will handle well and be able to use the power.

I've been on a few v-rods and the thing that always strikes me is how awkward they feel to sit on and how heavy the steering feels. Harley has a good base, they just seem to be doing the wrong thing with it. Like the v-max, tons of power but it can't be used to it's potential.

I recently bought a 2005 CVO Vrod. Great bike and I find myself riding it most of the time when I am solo making short trips and back and forth to work. Still ride my streetglide a good bit but normally when 2-up, longer trips or need the bags.

Overall the vrod is just fun to ride but you do have to get used to revving it higher

See, that one is nice. if the moco made one like that they might just sell it and perhaps even expand their market a little.
