HD extened service warranty-Do I need it?

I'm purchasing a 2003 VRod & the dealer is "suggesting" an extended warranty. Not a bad idea, but it's expensive. Do I need a 7 yr extended warranty or is something middle of the road adequate? At $1600 I want to make sure I'm not just wasting my money. Thanks!

At $1600.00 I would pass, you can't get most dealers to fix anything "under warranty" anyway! What about a 3 or 4 year, should be less.
