What kind of footwear are we wearing ????
I wear Piloti racing shoes ( www.piloti.com)
(The DTM model is the BEST)
These shoes are completely HEAT resistant
VERY light and Most CART and Formula ONE drivers wear them)
I find wearing the bulky biker boots makes it difficult to upshift (getting my BIG-ASS
boot between the footpeg and the shifter)
Just curious .....

I wear Alpinestars or AGV sport boots most often. Not bulky, best protection. I basically suit up as if I'm hopping on a sport bike... pants, jacket, full face... it is a dragster bike after all .

are most motorcycle boots (alpinestars, sidi, etc) not steel-toe? and if so, why not? I seem to recall my last looking for boots noticing that most of them are not steel toe, at least the ones I looked at.
I ride with steel-toe Doc Martens currently... one of these days I need to get some new choos.

John, BEST is rather subjective but they sure are proud of them
Doc, One of the prevailing theories is that a steel toe boot could actually crush your toes if the steel cup in the toe gets flattened. The current trend is towards a composit toe mold that will absorb the impact like a helmet or simply a double thick leather toecup.
I use Oxtar boots http://www.oxtar-usa.com/ . They make a lot of the private label boots and I've found them to be the most comfortable, especially if you have a wider foot. They are also some of the best bargains on the steet. For around town I have a various assortment of HD boots.

John, I disagree.... For the past 6 years I have worn DANNER Boots for both riding and Military applications. They are expensive, but the quality and craftsmanship is second to none.... IMHO Here is the link: www.danner.com

Chippewa. Velcro fasteners, and reinforced for the shifter. Both boots have the reinforcement so I guess you could use them on a british bike as well. But I sold the BSA! Oh well.

Yes it is subjective for sure! The Dayton's will last 20 years plus. They are extremely supple. Not cheap (about $350.00 USD) but you get what you pay for.
The HD boots can be had on-line for well under $100.00. Not bad for the price. They are manufactured by Wolverine.

I got a pair of these about two years ago. sofar they are great. They are made by Sha Sha. I have owned several other shoes by this company and sofar so good. All of their shoes have hidden compartments The downside is that the security guys at the airport already know about them on this brand. I have been asked several times to take off my shoes a open the secret compartment.

I love it, $125.00 from EasyRiders, and $75.00 from the manufacturer.

I got these down at Greenville HD today for $147 out the door.
The upper is not rough like in this pic.
They seem comfy. I think I'm going to need to do a little modifying on the front of the heal (where it hits the peg), I tend to tilt my feet out and the heal isn't allowing that easliy.

Oakley Military Boot. Just find the easier than a big bulky boot. Do have a Harley boot that I did pick up at an open house cheap though.
